In March 2024, Childress led a production of Missy Mazzoli’s Breaking the Waves at the Detroit Opera, directed by Tom Morris and restaged by Diana Wyenn.
Kiera Duffy who originated the role of Bess made her return to great acclaim. Later that season, Childress made her debut at the Prague National State Opera for the world premiere of Simon Voseček’s Ogres, with a libretto by Yann Verbugh. The opera describes the harrowing experiences of members of the LGBTQI+ community in various parts of the world as they are subjected violence, repression and rejection.
